I should probably give this a 2 and 1/2 stars... I heard everyone loves it, but I thought it was nothing special. I would much rather have pizza from Reginelli's (or even the boot!), especially for the money. People that work there are nice, but food just wasn't that good.

I love this place! It's my new favorite late nite food spot uptown. They have a new chef with realy great daily specials too. Definitely not like the old place down the street. Great service!

This place is just not worth it. Overpriced, greasy and small slices are nothing like NYC pies...don't waste your money...go to Theo's down the street.

Would have given one star but the staff was friendly, although they were having completely inappropriate conversation at the bar where I was sitting. The pizza is the greasiest pizza I've ever encountered. Crust is thin like it should be but, it tastes like cardboard. Practically no sauce on the pie so, I can't tell you how sauce even tasted. Over all, terrible pizza. Best pizza in town is Brooklyn Pizza in Metry, worth the drive.

I wandered in off the street for a slice thinking that any place that calls itself "New York Pizza" must be capable of, a) producing reasonably good pizza and b) bringing a slice out quickly. Wow was I mistaken about B. Some of the worst service imaginable was rendered despite the fact that at least 6 people seem to work there at all times. The chef was a lonely pimple faced teenager trying to do way more than could be expected of him. They were telling people on the phone to wait a up to 2 hours. All this while the staff to patron ratio was at least one to one. The pizza was passable, somewhere near the middle of the New York pizza spectrum on terms of quality. In short only eat here if you don't care at all to service, because the employees sure don't. Every request is seen as an afront to their busy day of staring into space. I look forward to this place changing hands again soon.

I am going to give this place 3.5 stars. Very quiet around noon on a cold Sunday after Christmas. I've had food from here before but it was delivery so I'm ready to give a review from dining in. This place is more spacious than what I imagined from driving by. A nice bar to sit at with about 10 other tables inside. The pizza was about the same as when I had delivery. It is a thin crust pizza. However, it is a little greasy for a this crust. All of the toppings were fresh and tasted great. Service was excellent, but I was the only one in there. Erin, the waitress, was a super sweet and delightful young woman. She made the experience that much better, as we got to talk alot while I was waiting for my food. I will definitely come to this place again. Also, lots of draft beer options for my fellow beer drinkers.

We visited the new location close to Napoleon tonight. The new place (+) is much better than the old one. It is nicely decorated, clean, and spacious, all completely opposite from the old place. Fifteen beers on tap, good selection, and served very cold (+). No fountain soft drinks, just cans and bottles, thus no refills (-). Ordered two slices and the Snooie bread. The bread is a muffaletta toasted with Swiss, mozzarella, tomatoes, and oregano, very good (+). I'm still unimpressed with the pizza (-). Definitely not New York style. Sauce had a strange sweet taste. The slices were definitely not fresh. They just don't compare with SLICE on St. Charles. The service was slow (-). The menu even warned "Please be patient, a quality pizza requires extra cooking time. But, I think I discovered why the service is slow. The cook brought out the food to the bar throughout our visit (one hour?), the entire time with a cell phone on his ear. It was very distracting and explains why the service is so slow...

I haven't tried all of the pizza parlors in New Orleans, have tried a few and have found New York Pizza to be the best....fresh ingredients, nothing premade, crust is thin and not overly bready. Definitely worth a try.

Poor customer service First of all we have eaten here a couple of times as the food is usually ok. Tonight, however, they had plumbing issues and sewage backed up in the dining room less than 5 feet from us. I really don't have a complaint about the actual plumbing issue (things happen) but I thought it was extremely unprofessional of them not to apologize or acknowlege it in any way. We had already ordered so we didn't want to just get up an leave. As far as our order it was horrible. I specifically asked the waitress (who was very busy watching tv to bother helping us) if the chicken wings were crispy. She said they could be ordered either crispy or not. I ordered them asking her to please make sure they were crispy. She assured me they would be. When we received them they weren't even close to being crispy. I fault the waitress because she brought them out and they did not look crispy at all. Again she was too busy watching tv. As the main course came out (a calzone) it was completely not right. I couldn't even eat it. What a horrible experience. I agree with the other reviews, do not expect good service at New York Pizza. The only saving grace was they comped the wings and the calzone. At this moment I am not planning on returning. Theo's pizza is much much much better.

Alright, the pepperoni pizza we had was not bad; the service was not great. The reason it gets only a star is that within a couple of hours, both my roommate and I, well, let's just say it's a good thing we have two toilets.

You can't beat $5 for a pint of beer AND a slice of pizza. i did once buy a ridiculously expensive pitcher of beer though...

Decent food. Very friendly staff although this one guy was REALLY loud. It was annoying because there's a severe echo in there. He had his wife/girlfriend in there with their 2 kids. It felt very unprofessional. But the guy was really nice so I figured I'd let it slide. It's pretty small in here so not a lot of seating but it's cozy. One thing you should know is that you will smell like food when you leave this place.

The allure of New York Pizza for me comes down to their late night offerings since I've only been once during daylight hours. A late night pint and a slice for $5? How can anyone complain about such a deal? This is limited to certain draft beers and one topping on your slice of course, but a beer on it's own runs $4.. In my experience, they've been pretty generous with toppings. Even when I order my weird favorite of anchovies, I don't find that they skimp on them. And even when you order a slice with anchovies, pineapple, and jalepenos, they hardly bat an eyelash. :) From what I can tell, the late night crowd is a mix of service industry staff getting off late (me) and drunk people wandering in from the bars nearby (also me). Not the best scene if you want something fancy, but New York Pizza is honestly an option that gets brought up without fail during post-work discussions about food. P.S. - Not sure if this applies to normal business hours, but it's cash only when they go down to pint and a slice late night!

So we tried New York Pizza because we already had Theo's and wanted to give this place a chance. The interior wasn't all that appealing for dining-in, so we ordered a pizza with buffalo wings to-go. We had the Big Apple pizza. It's like a supreme pizza with pepperoni, canadian bacon, peppers, olives and whatever. Pizza wasn't my favorite. It took about 25 minutes to prepare which suggests (and I believe it) that their pies are made to order...definite plus. Toppings, cheese and sauce we alright. Major drawback for me was how greasy the pizza was. I kind of like a down and dirty greasy pizza, but this tipped the scale. I'd rate the whole pie as a 2/5. Wings were pretty decent. No sauce to speak of, but they were cooked well and had a nice seasoning. I prefer a wet wing layered in some sauce. Still, I liked the wings more than the pizza. Limited service experience because it was just take out, but the lady behind the counter was nice and kept me updated on the progress of my pizza. No complaints about the service. Overall, I won't repeat.

Pizza is o-k, just ok.. Lunch service was not good. Had to ask for what I needed and didn't get checked on for drink refills till I was done eating. Nah wouldn't return.

BEST $5 MEAL UPTOWN To me, NYP's huge Italian sausage slice (by far their star selection) and a pint of Amber is the best deal in my area. Unfortunately their take out/delivery doesn't hold up as well. So sit at the bar with a buddy or two, enjoy the pizza and watch a Sci Fi rerun on their humongous HD TV. FYI: THERE'S LOTS OF NEARBY STREET PARKING! 4 spaces across the street the Saturday that we went. Business in this area has dropped off dramatically with the Napoleon Avenue construction. Support! NB: this is a quasi dive, dark and dusty but an old-school gem.

It's cheap. And close to my house. That's about the only thing this place has going for it. The bartender was super friendly when I walked in and ordered a couple slices to go. They came out quickly and I eagerly bit into them. They were...bad. No flavor in the sauce, cheese was blah, and the crust was boring as well. It was just really, really bad, so much so that I threw it away walking home. Avoid!

I love pizza. Actually, not just love, I loooooove pizza! I'm pretty easy to please and usually think ok pizza is still good because it's pizza I'd put New York Pizza right about in the middle of the spectrum. The pizza was good, but nothing about it wowed me. Our server was friendly, you can order by the slice, and the prices ate reasonable. But my favorites are still Mid City Pizza and Dolce Vita.

Went for lunch, got there right when they opened. Waitress seemed annoyed but friendly enough. We ordered the Big apple with extra garlic. The pizza took a little while ( like most pizza does) when it came out the pizza looked really good. However they used minced out of the shaker garlic not whole garlic like we assumed, so that was a bummer. The pizza WAS delicious, definitely traditional New York style and the crust was perfect. I'd go back again.

As far as pizza goes, for New Orleans its this place or Pizza Delicious in the Bywater are the best... My GF prefers Pizza Delicious. I go back and forth; but tend to prefer this place. Being from New Jersey my standards for pizza are extremely high. You really cannot get good pizza outside of the Tri-State area, this is a fact that cannot be argued with. They do do a nice job here. If I am hankering for "New York Style" pizza; I would come here. For the most part it satisfies me. Most places that advertise New York style pizza are garbage; this place however IS NOT, its very good.

    (4)
  • Mitch E.

Food was excellent but the bartender was alone and having to run around with no support from other employees. It wasn't quite New York style but it was close considering it's New Orleans.

I love this pizza by the slice or the whole pie by delivery. I like that it's a pizza place attached to a bar and you can just order this in the bar and pig. We have come in here for drunk food fix and it hits the spot perfectly! Definitely one of my preferred pizza spots Uptown!

While at the bar I enjoyed a slice of pepperoni pizza. I don't know if it was because it was after a Mardi Gras parade and they were trying to keep things extra simple or if if the bar area regularly serves cheese or pepperoni only, but it didn't phase me because I only wanted pepperoni this night. The pizza was delicious and it came out really quick. It was so hot that it burned the roof of my mouth a bit- but in a "I don't care I just kept eating it kind-of-way". The bar tenders were very nice and always smiling and laughing and I'm sure they had a rough long day/week, but they didn't let it show and the prices for the pizza and miller light were extremely reasonable

Came here late at night when couldn't find any other place to eat. Their cheese pizza was so amazing, I still feel the flavor in my mouth. The crust was crispy and delicious. Next time I'm in NOLA, I'll go here again for sure!

Haven't been here in years, since we moved from New Orleans. I still miss it. Both NOLA and New York Pizza. It looks like New York Pizza has moved down Magazine a few blocks to Napoleon. We used to live about three or four blocks away on Valmont and loved their thin-crust pizza and salad with cucumbers. I can get a good imitation of thin-crust pizza from our favorite joint in Asheville, Nona Mia (the thin-crust style I like is actually called the Bronx and costs just $9), but we've tried to duplicate the dressing on the salad but can't quite do it. Will stop in again next time we're Uptown. And while we're at it get some fresh-shucked oysters and a shrimp po-boy at Casamento's. God, I miss New Orleans. --Lan Sluder

Very disappointed. I love New York style pizza but this place fell short. Although the menu features a large selection of dishes, from Calzones to Lasagna, our server told us to stay away from everything except Pizza and we would have to order whole pizzas only. There was only one other table yet our 4 pizzas took almost an hour. The toppings were good but the crust was tasteless and the pizza was wet. Our server started off nice but became visibly frustrated and obviously upset when we asked her to split our check 4 ways. She told us it would take a long time and that the computer "freezes" when she tries to split checks. Nobody working there, Bartender included seemed happy. They all made us feel as if we were not really wanted there. We all, 9 of us will not return.

Wanted to love this place after living in NYC for many years. Unfortunately this isn't NY Style pizza. Yea, it's thin crust but the issue is its paper thin. Humorously paper thin. I'm not sure how they get a crust so thin. Flavors were ok otherwise but was hoping for more. It's super divey which I like but the atmosphere is def not for everyone

Despite the name this place doesn't come close to any of the NYC pizzerias I've tried. Of course not many cities have pies of the quality served in NYC-problem is they don't come close to the other top local places either. To be positive it's not bad pizza just nothing special. Somewhat disinterested service at the bar the one time I went even though the place was empty. I'll give it another at some point-maybe.

I love the pizza at New York Pizza, and I like the fact that you can order the pizza by the slice. I had been missing that option for a while, as I'm very used to getting pizza by the slices back home, since I can't eat a whole pizza on my own, and I'm usually running off to do something. Although it can be a wait sometimes, when you are ordering a whole pie, the pizza here is one of my favorites in the city. It's also nice that I have a place to go for a super late night eat. But aside from the pizza, since there are many reviews on the pizza. I want to focus on the other dishes that are available now. From thursday to sunday, New York Pizza offers an alternative menu for lunch and dinner. The alternative menu features traditional Italian entrees (e.g., parmesan, marsala, pepperonata, piccante) your option of chicken or veal that comes with a salad, fresh made al dente pasta, and 2 slices of garlic and italian herb bread. The portion is large, usually 3 pounded pieces of chicken/veal, and you can easily share the dish with another person. I highly recommend the parmesan and the marsala dishes, however, I did not like the piccante (capers are not really my thing), and I have yet to try the pepperonata. I cannot neglect some of the appetizers, you can order an AWESOME French onion soup, and yummy eggplant parmesan. I would like to say that I often think of the French onion soup at New York Pizza now, and it is the biggest draw for me to go there between thursday and sunday. The onions, you can tell, have been slow cooked on a low heat and caramelized to perfection, and the broth (vegetable) is so flavorful. The bread is tender in the savoury tasting broth, and there is a generous, but perfect amount of melted cheese on top. When I was eating it, I was just having fun scooping up the soup, bread, onions, and twirling the hot melted cheese around my spoon. Writing this is making me want to go get some right now. The breading on the eggplant parmesan and the entree parmesan are the same, and I definitely love it. Usually, I don't eat eggplant, but in this form, it was very good. It was fresh, the breading was fresh and crisp, again with a mix of italian herbs, and it was not overly greasy, like you would find in other places. What is this that I've also heard recently and got to try? The chef added chicken fingers for children that also comes with a salad, the breading is the same that is used for the parmesan, and let me say, it was fresh and delicious. You could switch out some slices of chicken fingers for mozzarella sticks, whatever your kids, or maybe yourself would like. I think I'll hit up New York Pizza again some time this weekend. Whether for pizza or pasta, it's all good.

I fail to see how they claim to deliver when they never answer the phone. I've tried multiple times to order from them. I guess the don't want the business.

Decent pizza for a late night fix. Don't get too adventurous-- a standard pepperoni and cheese.

    (3)
  • Leah P.

Answered the phone as papa johns and then asked that I please stop calling, followed by I'm drunk and high and can't deliver. I'm not an expert at how pizza delivery works, but pretty sure the customer needs to be able to order and the restaurant has to be willing to deliver. Good luck with that.

Meh. Not the NY pizza I remember back in 2007 at the old magazine street location on the corner of Dufossat. We sat in and ordered wings as well as a whole pepperoni and Italian sausage pizza. I'm gonna keep this review short and simple. Don't order the wings they are Tyson-like buffalo wings and you can get a bag cheaper at your nearest Rouses or Walmart. I swear they taste exactly like the tyson anytizer wings. The best thing on the wing plate was the ranch dip. The pizza was slightly better than okay but definitely not what it used to be. As far as the service, our waitress was nice but she reached over our wings to place the pizza on the stand when she could've went on the side of either of us. I think I may give it another try before I totally write them off.

After the Tchoupitoulas Bar-a-thon, a case of the hungers attacked! New York Pizza was within walking distance from the end bar Le Bon Temps. NYP was packed with many hungry beer drinking runners, but my friend and I got a table right away. I ordered two slices of pepperoni and satisfied I was. I am lover of thin crust NY style pizza. While I don't think it is the best slice I have ever had, can't say I wasn't happy! Our waitress, while having many a drunk sweaty customer, was pleasant and attentive. She got to us as soon as she could, and even fixed us up to-go sweat teas for the walk home. I wouldn't mind grabbing a late night bite here again.

It was CHEESY! It was crispy! It was good! I got full! Still the same delish pizza I had back in the 90's.

Mediocre greasy chewy pizza with an excellent selection of beer. $5 slice & a pint is delightful. 3 stars.

After reading all the + reviews I might have to guess I ordered on an off night. The pizza was bland and dry. Of course it's pizza so there's no such thing as a BAD one but... Ooftah. I ordered a small vegetarian pizza and the jalapeños were mysteriously missing. I could hardly taste the sauce and the dough had a stale crunch/lack of flavor to it. Ranch was a necessity or I'd choke. I want to love this place because: A. It's pizza B. It's open late C. It's open on Sunday D. It's close I do have a theory that pizza tastes better the bigger it is... Fat girl theory, yes. So I'm definitely willing to go back for a slice, or a larger pizza, or when intoxicated. I did not get to experience the "foldable, grease dripping down my arm" NY style pizza the other reviewers talked about. I want to get greasy and hate myself a little after I finish, damnit!

  • Jennie W.

Horrible. We were the only people there and ordered pizza. A family of three came in and ate before we got pizza. We waited 45 min and it came out burned. After that they had the balls to charge us for drinks.

  • Jordan B.

Came here with my girlfriend a few weeks back and couldn't believe how authentic it was. The beer was cold and the pizza folded just like the ones I used to get in Williamsburg. I would recommended the pepperoni pizza with a pint of abita amber.. Because I'm more of an indie kind if guy.

  • George F.

LOVE THIS PIE. Homemade sauce is BOSS. They shred their own cheese, and they make their own dough. In a world of sysco products I feel comfort knowing that NYP still takes the time to make things from scratch. LOCAL GEM!!!!! & they have a huge TV.

The Gambit ran a story about New York Pizza this week and I realized that I had never written a review despite having eaten here a ton of times. I was a little surprised to see all of the bad reviews. While the pizza is definitely not New York pizza (or, at least it is not the floppy, foldable slices of pizza that this southern girl thinks of when she hears the term "New York pizza") but I happen to think it is quite delicious no matter what they call it. I just so happen to be a thin and crispy crust kind of girl and that's how they do it New York Pizza. I stumbled upon (or, maybe stumbled into is more accurate) NYP a few years ago during my first Mardi Gras living in the neighborhood. We were wandering around looking for somewhere to grab a bite after a day of parades and libations and ended up on the bar side of New York Pizza. Details about that visit are, understandably, a bit hazy. However, I will forever remember the Baked Feta appetizer we had on that visit and that memory is what prompted me to go back the next time I had a hankering for pizza. I've since dined in at NYP probably around a dozen times and, personally, I really like their pizza (obviously, or I wouldn't keep going back-- especially since Theo's is a stones throw away.) Like I said, I appreciate a good thin crust. Service (as in how long it takes for my food to come out) can be a mixed bag. It has run the gamut from incredibly prompt to what seems like an eternity. However, even on the occasions when I've had to wait, my server has always warned me up front that the kitchen is running slow and it was my choice to stay and wait. The bartenders and servers are always nice and very friendly and I've never had any problems in that area at all. Maybe I've just been lucky? However, I like to like that maybe it's because I'm nice and friendly, too, and have a tendency to get back what I give out. So, I like the pizza (and the Baked Feta, and the calzones and, on occasion, the wings) and I've had good experiences with the service. So, why only 3 stars? The Yelp definition of 3 stars is A-OK and that's exactly how I feel about NYP. I'll definitely go back-- probably sooner than later now that it's on my mind. However, that being said, the prices do run a bit on the high side-- but, really, what pizza place on Magazine ISN'T on the high side? The main reason they stick at 3 is because I've called them for delivery more than a few times, but have yet to have a pizza delivered. Either the delivery person hasn't shown up for work yet or they quote me a wait time that is longer than I'm willing to wait. I'd bump them up to 4 stars if they had their delivery act together.

I have only been here late at night. (They stay open late on weekdays!) I have only ordered the $5 pint and slice. (Bargain!) I have only been served by fantastic bartenders. (!!) Those three things deserve four stars in my humble opinion.....I guess I'm easy to please. It's the perfect low-key joint for a midnight snack.

Woodchuck while awaiting a slice w/pepperoni, Italian sausage & pineapples! The crust was just the right combo of crispy & chewy. The toppings were fresh and flavorful. I'll definitely get another slice here soon. By the way, the bar on the other half of this pizza spot is really cool and the staff is quite nice. Outside seating too!

Best wings in the city hands down.... Just make sure you are ready to wait 40 minutes for them! If they tell you 20 minutes on the phone double it. But the bartenders are friendly and chatty while you wait

For months I rode past this establishment thinking 'New York Pizza' huh...I've got to check them out because as a native NY'er I simply had to know if the pizza lived up to it's name. Being from Bronx, the best way to describe a New York slice is when you fold it the grease runs down your arm - that's it in a nutshell. I never thought the thinness of the crust was the thing. I am happy to say the plain pizza slice I had did not disappoint. The thinness of the crust was simply divine and while the grease did not run down my arm, the slight pool of grease in the middle of it had the same effect as if it did. I took the first bite and it took me back in time when for a quarter I could get a slice for 20 cents and a cup of coke for a nickle. Yeah, that was about a hundred years ago. Those were the days... At $2.50 a slice it was definitely worth the carbs, calories, and grease. The wait staff was nice and friendly and promised to give my compliments to the chef. This for me was a great dining experience, was very filling, satisfying and I will always consider New York Pizza a comfort food. Great pizza!

You've got a lotta nerve calling your place New York Pizza. First and foremost, the very worst pizza I've ever had in New York is a million times better than anything to ever be produced by this poor excuse of a pizza place. New York Pizza, PLEASE! What you make can barely be called pizza, period. And for all of you people giving more stars, I don't know what they are paying you, but I hope it is a lot. And it you are not being paid, PLEASE, get out more, and go some place good, cause this ain't it.

  • Steve C.

Extremely bland and ordinary, and slow. Crust was preformed frozen, with gummy mozzarella and the Parmesan was the stale and tasteless packaged variety in shakers. Tomato sauce was nearly without tomato flavor. Really only deserves 1/4 star but yelp doesn't give that option. Sad pizza in a city famous for its food.

I hate when I read a 5-star review for a place that has an average of 3 stars and the review starts like this: "I can't believe this place has such negative reviews!!!" That being said, I can't believe this place has such negative reviews!!! (sorry) I ate here for the first time last night and had no complaints. I've never ordered delivery from them or been in when it was busy so I can't speak to that. The service was great, they kept checking on me to see if I needed anything. When I'd finish a glass of wine they'd notice and ask if I wanted another. The pizza was the best I've had in NOLA, honestly. I got the Queens pizza so it was a "white" pizza, with olive oil instead of tomato sauce. The crust was so thin and crispy! I asked for a side of tomato sauce to dip the crust in and the tomato sauce was awesome...so sweet and good. I've only been to New York once and I don't remember if I had pizza or not so I can't tell you if NYP is authentically New York, but whatever it is I loved it. It was casual, too. I love how us New Orleanians take our food seriously, but sometimes I feel like every place is a tad too upscale for me. Like, I couldn't just walk in wearing sweatshirt and some sweatpants. Sometimes it's nice to be able to do that...here I didn't feel like that would be an issue. I'm not saying it's a dive, but it's just a tad more laid back than other pizza places close by. To me, that's a plus. This will be my go-to pizza joint from now on.

Stopped for late lunch one day, so the place was dead. Just ordered a slice of pepperoni and a salad. A small salad was huge. The pizza so so. I saw they have 5$ pint and a slice, seems worth it.

This place IS as good as it gets, it's no fancy eatery, it's a dang good pizza place, you can get a whole pie or by the slice, the slices are actually made to order! They start with a cheese pizza, add your toppings and bake it again (or for the first time, I didn't ask) and when you get it it is out-of-the-oven hot with cheese spilling over the edges in bubbly, crispy glory! The pizza was some of the most delicious I've had and the topping selection was great, it took my a while to figure out just what I wanted, my mind was racing with the possibilities. We also got a great deal, a slice and a beer for practically what a slice alone costs, and who doesn't like beer with their pizza, right? The food was fantastic and all but the women running the bar, Sue, she's a gem! We practically had to re-think our trip's various plans and reservations after we got the inside scoop from Sue, she told us what we needed to hear with regards to tourist traps, authentic restaurants and good things to do and see throughout the city. She was such a treat to have a conversation with. I also want to wish her well and hope she is okay after the terrible events in Boston as we saw her the day before her and her husband (both veteran marathoners, 50+ of the races for Sue if I remember correctly and a couple iron mans) left for Boston to take part in their second Boston Marathon. I am confident she is okay but I'm still wishing her well. Thanks so much for the hospitality Sue and after 30years New York Pizza still rocks!

I have been here a few times. The pizza here was average. The customer service was pretty good though. I would like to give this place a better review, but the food was not that great.

Like the rest of the reviews say the pizza here is nothing special even though I do like the this NYC style crust. You cant beat the $5 for beer and slice of three meat pizza though.

I'm only rating the bar half of this place as I have never eaten at the restaurant next door. That said this is probably my favorite place to grab something late night (kitchen open till 2), and I mainly stick to the $5 pizza and pint deal, which is a satisfying deal. This bars strength are probably its genuinely friendly patrons, and easy going staff. It is honestly the kind of place you can goto alone and leave with friends.

i was being really nice last time I wrote my review. I cannot stand this pizza. I can't eat it. SOMEONE wanted New York Pizza so I ordered it, picked it up and brought it home. My friend seemed to like it, but it was so dry and there was practically no tomato sauce on it. I had to go to Rouses, buy pizza sauce and dip it to enjoy it. I don't like the cheese and the fact that I had to add on to it to make it taste better drove the cost of the pizza up. I spent over $20 on a pizza I did not like. If they ever re-do their pizzas I'll come back, but I won't until then. I've given this place several chances but I just have to admit that I don't like it. I'll keep going back to the dough bowl.

Almost $4 for a slice of pizza?? I went to NY Pizza after a Mardi Gras parade last week. (Price gouge much?) The woman at the counter presented us with two options for individual slices: pepperoni and spinach. We asked why we couldn't see any green on top of the spinach pizza and she told us "The spinach is under the crust" (spoiler alert: there was no spinach!). The service was prompt, despite them being busy, and we paid and left. Within ten steps of leaving the front door, the cheese on the "spinach" slice slid off the bread and fell to the ground. Granted, I think this is probably in part due to the pizza-holder, but cheese should never slide off a pizza that easily. What a waste of $4. I won't be back.

Yes yes yes, I will review this place once i've actually eaten here! But, I just wanted to say that it's not the greatest place to grab a slice for takeout. Although there are tables and chairs outside on the sidewalk (nice touch), it's more of a sit-down place. There is a bar to chill out and have a beer while you wait, but since it was packed we didn't want to stand awkwardly next to a table and wait for a slice to come out. Interior is nice. I appreciate how clean and well-kept it looks. I think the fact that this place is busy means it must be doing something right. However, the wait staff we talked to was very awkward, not helpful, and made me want to run out of there. So, I did.

I agree that this is the best pizza I've had in New Orleans since I've moved here but I wasn't here when Sugar Park was around (holding my breath)! It is rather expensive but I feel like it is because they can be. Albeit somewhat inconsistent with the toppings & the cheese, the crust is always the perfect consistency, thin & kind of sweet. Pretty unique as far as pizzas go in this city. However the service is young & immature, almost every time I've gone in there the waiter is new & can't answer anyone's questions about the menu. Once the manager (or owner?) came storming in hollering at everyone behind the counter & in the kitchen, "IF YOU GOT TIME TO LEAN, YOU GOT TIME TO CLEAN!" Granted they probably could have been making themselves look busy but that is absolutely no way to present yourself as an authoritative figure in front of patrons. It cheapened the environment & that phrase is so overused by aggravating bosses that it in itself was aggravating enough to make me not want to go back for a dining experience. I'll stick to delivery, thanks.

NY Pizza is at the quiet corner of Napoleon and Magazine Streets. I think it has the best pizza in New Orleans. The restaurant is on one side and the bar on the other. The restaurant has about 15 tables or so and is more brightly lit than the bar area. The restaurant also has a bar which is where people pick up their to-go orders. I love this restaurant for a slice of plain cheese pizza and beer. In fact, many other Nola pizza joints won't let you purchase only one slice. The pizza is great with a delicious crispy crust. They have one of the largest selections of beers on tap in the city! Plus I absolutely love the staff over in the restaurant side. On a side note I met the original owners who are a really wonderful family. The parents are Ironman-level triathletes and are nice enough to host runners and cyclists at the bar several times per week post-workout. Overall, this is a friendly neighborhood restaurant that is well worth a visit.

I finally visited New York Pizza twice recently and the pizza was good. Pretty fresh, hand tossed yummy simple pizza. It was good and I liked the crust. The service is great, friendly staff which I enjoyed maybe more than pizza so I will go back again.

This review goes out to my left-side crew! Yes, NY Pizza Bar Edition, I'm talking about you! Guilty, I have a favorite bartendress that caters to my every need, be it via funky fancy beverages or pizza toppings. Either way, regardless of your affiliation with this utterly local, almost dive bar, NY Pizza is a perfect spot for a drink and a slice. With deals like $5 for a beer and a slice, you really can't go wrong!

Haven't had NY Pizza in almost 20 years and I don't know why it's been so long. Tonight we ordered the Queens: mushrooms, artichoke, feta...but not sure I had a spinach on mine. The crust was excellent. Love that the new location is closer to home.

Great food, great staff and management. I love New York style pizza and can buy whole pie or a great deal for a pint and slice at $5. Bar is great or family in restaurant.

The pizza is bad. I love pizza especially when drinking so I stopped by here on my way to Ms. Mae's. I was very disappointed. I never thought it was possible to make pizza I would turn down when drinking but New York Pizza proved me wrong. I will not return.

$5 for a pint and a slice is one of the best deals in the city!!! I would rank them higher except they have recently been inconsistent with their closing times. This used to always be my go to place for some late night food but of late they have been closing much earlier so it is hard to judge when they may or may not be serving later at night. They do tasty pizza, lasagna, and everything else I've had has been very good. Not my favorite pizza in the area but at $5 for a pint and slice you are losing money if you don't eat your slice!!!

Okay it was Mardi Gras but it was the middle of the afternoon on Monday with NO CUSTOMERS IN THE STORE. They had two choices on their menu, cheese or pepperoni for $24 fucking dollars for an 18" pizza. I had nine people to feed and my neighborhood pizza parlor couldn't produce enough of the only two items they had on the menu to serve one of their neighbors at a reasonable price? Are you kidding? Price gouging the neighbors is just stupid. Apparently, their business plan is to depend on the business of tourists who have never eaten there before.

I stumbled in here one night alone and hungry and ordered a slice of pizza. It was fine, decent for New Orleans. Giving itself a name that it can't live up to was silly. The entire time this drunken bum was slightly bugging me and at the bar and the bartender was kind of rolling her eyes and trying to get him to go home. Honestly, I wasn't all that bothered by the shady character, it's New Orleans and I decide to be zen about these things. But, it was nice to see the bartender cared for my wellbeing.

All my uptown friends claim this is the best pizza in the city! I have eaten at the old NYP and the new NYP and i am still on the fence.... Its good, but i don't experience much bread, tomato sauce, and melted cheese i don't enjoy thoroughly. The service was very slow. It took us 25 minutes to get our pizza after ordering it. NO LIQUOR only beer. Hey, at least its close to Miss Mae's. I am still puzzled why they moved from their old location: it doesn't have the same feel at all. Some things are meant to stay the same. The new staff is a little bit freaky and parking is even worse than before. I would go back but wouldnt look forward to it that much. The menu is still too limited (health wise) for a place that is trying to change its image to a more dine in upscale joint. I will say that the meatball calzone (not on menu) was pretty damn good!

Expensive and awful. Two other friends and I went here, there was only one other person there with their child. We waited about 40 minutes to get our food. We got 1 16" pizza, 1 meatball sandwich, 1 salad, 1 tea. $40 The pizza was lackluster at best, no where near as great as we've heard it to be. The meatball sandwich was just awful, the meatballs were not made fresh. The salad was a joke by far. a small plate and a handful of lettuce. Avoid this place, you can spend less money and get more food with quicker service elsewhere.

This place is terrible. I've only ordered from here twice and had a problem both times.. this time they just came and told me that they are SOOO sorry they had a shift change and the other waitress didn't let them know I ordered a pizza slice.. so they are reheating a cold slice of pizza that I ordered about an hour ago.. last time I ordered here there was a big piece of plastic bag heated in my pizza... this place is terrible!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's a rundown of our first, only, and last experience... We ordered pizza for delivery at 5:30 and the person taking my order said it would arrive in an hour. Well, an hour later a pizza arrived but unfortunately it was not our pizza. The driver called and ours was still at the restaurant. He said he would go and bring it back. An hour later we still had no pizza so we called and the response was that they had burned our original pizza and they were just putting another one in the oven and that they could offer us that pizza for 50% off. Needless to say we just canceled the pizza. So, we have no clue if it's good or not but the service absolutely needs improvement.

We ended up here out of desperation after every restaurant we wanted to go to was booked due to Jazzfest. So, needing to see the NBA playoffs and noticing they had a big tv, we chose this place. The service was very slow, although friendly. It may have been that they were understaffed, as it appeared there were only 2 waitresses for the entire restaurant. We ordered salads and an extra-large pizza. The caesar salad was kind of weird because it came undressed and just didn't taste the same without the lettuce being coated already. The pizza was okay. In no way "New York," but fine. It took sooo long to get out of here, though, as our waitress was super busy.

  • KK B.

New York-style? I think not. Sad, tasteless triangles of fail is more like it. The staff was sullen and inattentive even though we were the only people in the place. We should have known better when we walked in and a tumbleweed blew by. The pizza was pitiful. The experience sucked. And every time we drive past the place we joke about, saying "screw it, let's just eat there" and laughing as we speed past.

Me and my best friend stumbled into New York Pizza three years ago and fell in love. The staff is cool and very friendly. I always order a cheese pizza with black olives and she always orders plain cheese. We end up getting a second slice every time! Great cheap pizza, leaving usually only having spent 7 bucks which is helpful being a student n what not. Even when we were in New York we did not find the pizza as delicious as our beloved New York Pizza on Magazine!!

Being from New York I was very excited when I drove past New York Pizza, thinking I might finally be able to get NY pizza in New Orleans. When I did end up going in there late night for a slice it took a while maybe 15 minute which I thought was weird for one slice and only five people at the bar. The pizza was good-thin crust but it definitely doesn't compare to NY pizza other then the crust being thin. I went back several times, the pepperoni is good and you can get a plain cheese pizza for pretty cheap. I guess I just need to accept that if i want NY pizza i need to go to new york. Overall I'd rate it my third favorite place to get pizza in NOLA.

Not that great, the pizza is way too expensive for what you get. The toppings were sparse, the crust was kind of soggy. Theo's is too close and so much better to pass up for this place. I mean maybe I need to give it another try, but I like Theo's so much it's hard for me to stray. Like I said I thought it was too expensive for the quality.

Ok.. so I worked in the mid city store for 2 years before the storm. I enjoyed the hell out of my job. We had a greta time and really managed to make the best of ebery night, packed or slow. To boot that restaurant fed me for those 2 years, the discount made it cheaper than grocery shopping. You would think I would be sick of their menu by now, but nope. Any time I happen to be over by magazine and craving a pizza I hit them up. I still feel it's the best for flavor and thin crust, they'll make it how you want it and believe me that the ingredients are fresh.... trust me, I spent hours... days even chopping the veggies for the salads and hand tossing those delicious dressings and homemade croutons. Ya can't beat it. I miss the mid city venue, but I hear the new venue is pretty great. Plus they always have an awesome selection of beer on hand.

Original location further up Magazine st. produced a much better pizza. Now that they are at the corner of Napoleon and Magazine, the service and product has gone way downhill. Mediocre greasy pizza at an exuberant price.

While it's true that the pizza isn't just like the fantastic-ist, $5 pint and slice is a great deal. I come here often because it's cheap and tasty enough and the service at the bar is excellent. A fine place to get a greasy slice of pizza and a couple of beers.

The only reason for 3 stars is because their timing is not consistent. By that I mean, some times I am told it will be ready for pick-up in 30 mins and it was not ready. Or, I will be told 35 mins and it was cold when I picked it up. It is not a fancy pizza. But I love their super thin crust. And I do have to say they top it perfect every time, at least for me. They are 2 mins from home and that's a plus also.

I had a really great time at this place. This was my first time going (January 30th, 2010). The waitress recognized the friends I was with and brought them their usual beers. She was super friendly and quick. My friends pointed out some other employees and said they weren't very nice, but our waitress was great. We got snooie bread and it was AMAZING. The four of us got two medium pizzas, both with split toppings. The snooie bread took an unexpected amount of time to come, but we were chatting away so I didn't really notice. I didn't keep track of how long the pizza took but it didn't seem to take any longer than any other pizza place that's not fast food. I wouldn't necessarily call the pizza "New York" pizza because it was quite crispy, but it was still delicious. The slices aren't overly large and the price is quite affordable. I really loved this pizza place and can't wait to go back the next time I visit New Orleans.

"SIT WHEREVER!" was what we were greeted with by a bitter hag behind the bar. As we strolled uncertainly toward the bar (against the hag's orders) to get a glimpse of a giant chalkboard menu behind said hag, we must not have had enough "toll for the troll", cos she repeated herself louder, and much angrier. Confused, we obeyed, and wandered to an oddly dirty-looking table and slowly sat down. The three of us are sharing glances now, uncertain what it was exactly that made this place so goddamned annoying after only stepping foot into it for all of twenty seconds...Hmmm... Was it the hag alone? Certainly she was rude, but there's something else....Could it be the giant Sam's Club-sized cans of tomato sauce used as centerpieces for the tables (!?), proudly proclaiming the fact that we're about to be served Italian fare from a source that's more "shittily" than "Italy"? Perhaps... OR! Maybe it was the Loudmouthed Blowhard perched at the edge of his stool at the table next to ours, BELLOWING nonsense about sports, politics, and more nauseating, appetite-killing topics while bits of pizza-flavored spittle sprayed violently before him...Screaming! With one piece of cold, half-eaten cafeteria pizza in one hand, and a microphone in the other! This asshole was doing some type of AM radio broadcast IN THE RESTAURANT--in our faces! We couldn't believe what a lame dump this place was. The food? Who f*cking knows? We got up and left hungry. I know it sounds pompous to ask this, but how DARE this place call itself a restaurant?! I wouldn't step foot in this place to fart, let alone eat a meal! Go to Slice, or even Reginelli's, for that matter. At least these other places have the common sense to hide their canned goods, trolls, and assholes behind closed doors!!!

Not the best pizza in New Orleans, but good enough. The cans of tomato paste at every table made me skeptical about how the final product would turn out, but I was pleased with the outcome

We go to New York Pizza quite a bit since it moved to its new location - and I've noticed huge changes (good ones!) since the fall - the new menu/specials are fantastic, the service is great (especially in the bar), and they treat you like family. The baked feta app is amazing, and don't miss Lolo's peanut butter mousse pie. In fact, we like it so much that New York Pizza is now home to our alumni club's game watches.

The bar side of NY Pizza (technically Bronx Bar) is awesome. It's my favorite low-key hangout. Pint and a slice is always $5--and we're talking high quality pizza, not some greasy reheated slice of cheese. They make the best bloody mary's. Bartenders are amazing, sweet, and happy to get you whatever you need. They've introduced me to several new excellent drinks! Food is great, drinks are great, but it's the ladies behind the counter that keep me coming back.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
